Set in the historic market town of Ludlow, The Blue Boar Inn is a long-standing pub with deep roots in the town’s past, dating back to circa 1650. The design sensitively transformed the pub into a refined timeless space.
Blue Boar Inn
Overview
A refurbishment focused on re-establishing The Blue Boar Inn as a central part of Ludlow’s market town. The interior was organised into distinct, flexible spaces that feel connected, supporting a variety of reasons to visit.
Permaculture
A fully reclaimed approach shaped the project, with furniture, lighting and materials sourced from salvage, end-of-roll textiles and local antiques. The layout and detailing draw on Ludlow’s history, creating layered spaces that feel rooted, connected and true to their setting.
Impact
A pub with a strong sense of identity, now established as a destination within the town. Well used by locals and visitors, it supports a busy food and drink offer and encourages return visits.

The Blue Boar Inns refurbishment was both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Jemma’s vision and determination helped create an authentic pub with real character, rooted in Ludlow’s history through reclaimed furniture, antique lighting and carefully sourced pieces. The result is an authentic pub that will stand the test of time and has set the business up for success for many years to come.
