Case Study

The Anchor Cottage

Anchor Cottage sits beside The Anchor Inn in the coastal hamlet of Seatown on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, at the foot of Golden Cap. Originally a former staff cottage, it was transformed into a two-bedroom holiday retreat designed to complement the neighbouring pub.

Overview

A former staff cottage reworked into a two-bedroom holiday retreat, designed to feel warm, considered and easy to settle into. The layout was refined to improve flow and better support guest stays.

Permaculture

The design is guided by what’s already there, allowing the building’s character and coastal setting to inform decisions. Expressed through reclaimed materials, local sourcing and thoughtful connections.

Impact

A natural extension of The Anchor Inn, encouraging guests to stay longer and move easily between both spaces. Well received by guests, it has strengthened reputation, supported occupancy and encouraged return stays.

Jemma really took the time to fully understand the brief then delivered in spades. Our bouji fisherman’s cottage is the perfect blend of style, charm and function, and we couldn’t be happier. Incredibly creative and diligent, Jemma was a joy to work with and made us feel she was invested in the success of the overall project as we were.
