Case Study

The Owl

The Owl sits in the Sussex village of Kingsfold, a traditional country pub with over 115 years of history, popular with locals, walkers and visitors to the surrounding countryside now thoughtfully enhance.

Overview

The Owl was refreshed inside and out, strengthening its character while improving how the spaces work throughout the day. The layout was gently rebalanced to support drinking, dining and quieter moments, creating a relaxed and sociable pub.

Permaculture

Window and fixed seating make better use of awkward edges, turning underused areas into places people naturally gather. Existing furniture was retained alongside reclaimed and locally sourced pieces, with a planted terrace strengthening the connection to the surrounding landscape.

Impact

The addition of a terrace has extended capacity and introduced a stronger outdoor offer during warmer months. A well used, confident pub that supports both everyday visits and longer stays.
